Fowler Head Start
Welcome to the Fowler Head Start program!
Our preschool program promotes school readiness in three- to five-year-olds from low-income families by supporting the educational and health needs of participating children. We also provide educational opportunities that equip parents to support the literacy and cognitive development of their children.
What is Head Start?
Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood program for three- and four-year-olds from low-income families. In addition to free educational child care, Head Start also provides participants with access to medical, dental, and nutritional care, social services, and parenting education opportunities.
Phoenix, Arizona—as one of seven regional grantees in the state that receive federal funding to deliver Head Start services—has provided educational opportunities to low-income families since 1965.
Registration
Families must meet federal income guidelines to register for free Head Start services. All participating children must be three or four years old prior to September 1 to attend classes. In the event more families register than space allows, we will give enrollment preference to students who live within the Fowler Elementary School District attendance boundary.
If you are interested in our program, please complete a pre-registration form and provide the following items:
- Photo I.D.
- Child’s birth certificate
- Immunization record
- Proof of residency
After completing our pre-registration process, a member of our intake team will contact you to complete the registration process and give you information about upcoming parent orientations. We will then conduct a home visit to get to know your child and provide you with resources to use in supporting your child’s early educational journey.
