Head Start and Early Head Start Programs

Head Start programs are designed to prepare young children for success both in school and in life after school. These programs provide children with meaningful opportunities to participate in social and academic activities that emphasize school readiness and child wellness. Through a comprehensive approach, Head Start supports children and their families in key areas such as education, health, and parental engagement.

The program delivers a range of services aimed at helping children reach important milestones in their development. In addition to focusing on educational achievement, Head Start also attends to children’s health needs and encourages active parental involvement throughout the child’s early learning journey.

The Fowler Elementary School District (FESD) Head Start program primarily serves children who are three or four years old. For younger children, including infants, toddlers, and expectant mothers, the Early Head Start program provides specialized support and early learning experiences.

Program Settings and Locations

Both Head Start and Early Head Start programs operate in full-day settings to ensure that children receive consistent care and educational support. The Head Start program is available at elementary schools within the district, including Fowler Elementary, Sun Canyon Elementary, Sunridge Elementary School, and Tuscano Elementary School. The Early Head Start program is at the Dr. Marvene Lobato Child Care Center.
